PowerPoint Pawn Pages

  • PowerPoint Slide with a Macro for making pawns from images

    To Use:

    • Copy to a new *.pptm file
    • Make sure you enable macros and turn on Developer under Options->Customize Ribbon->Main Tabs
    • Copy and Paste to layout whatever arrangement of pawns you want
    • Ungroup all objects
    • Select all the pawns objects (dummy images and labels) you want for a particular image
    • Execute the "ReplaceImages" macro
    • Select the Image to use

The filename for the image will be used for the label. If the name contains and underscore only what comes before the underscore will be used for the label

It works best if the images are already close to the correct ratio w:h

    • tiny = 5:7
    • small = 8:9
    • medium = 9:13
    • large = 8:9
    • huge = 12:13
    • gargantuan = 16:17

I typically use a shell script calling ImageMagick under WSL to quickly resize images before hang. After printing on cardstock, I cut them and fold them. Finally tucking them into a pawn base with a piece of cardboard to wedge them in.
